Special Interest Session on Cybersecurity at ITS World Congress
13 October 2021 @ 2:00 pm – 3:30 pm CEST
At the ITS World Congress in Hamburg (11-15 October 2021), INSPIRE-5Gplus partner National Centre for Scientific Research Demokritos, Greece is organising a Special Interest Session on “Cybersecurity challenges and implications in ITS” (Intelligent Transport Systems).
ITS ecosystems are the dominant solution to networks’ saturation as they provide several benefits. They contribute to congestion reduction, limitation of emissions and air pollution, avoidance of unexpected incidents on the road and to transportation efficiency. However, deploying interconnected Intelligent Transport Systems creates several challenges, mainly in terms of safety and cybersecurity. Therefore, a key point for unlocking the enormous potential ITS ecosystems can offer towards more efficient transportation lies in the extent to which it remains cyber-secure. In this session, we will present and discuss the current situation, focusing on challenges and issues that need to be studied to address the growing needs of the ICT infrastructure.
